Frigoglass joined the services of SD Worx in March this year, after the acquisition of a division of a well known company that is also one of our Swiss customers. “We started out as a brand new company in Switzerland, so we didn’t have payroll, pension or compensation funds,…” Immediately facing some big HR-challenges, they contacted us for some help. Our consultants guided Mesa (HR business partner) and his colleagues through the journey of putting the human back in human resources.
Frigoglass is a company that provides and maintains refrigeration systems for beverage brands and counts 40 employees. They are new to the Swiss market and took over certain services and employees from a beverage brand.
Mesa Sonnenklar, HR Business partner of Frigoglass, is responsible for the personnel administration of the company. He leads various HR projects and participates in operational and strategic HR matters and is very positive about the cooperation with SD Worx.
“As a new relatively unknown company, taking over a part of a world famous brand, we struggled in gaining the trust of our employees. They were very sceptical about the acquisition and questioned almost all the steps we took. Combined with the covid-19 crisis, it was quite the challenge.”
Frigoglass wanted the best service for their employees. ”At the previous company they were used to good wage conditions (a good pension fund, great insurance solutions) but also a great payroll provider, which lead me to SD Worx.” It was important to have a flawless payroll system, because of the situation, Frigoglass couldn’t afford to make mistakes towards their employees. It would not benefit the process of gaining their trust. On his turn however, Mesa didn’t have much confidence towards payroll providers, due to a past experience. “At my previous job, we had a provider who made many mistakes, which made me really sceptical towards SD Worx as well. Luckily I quickly figured out that I was working with professionals. The consultants gave me a lot of advice that went beyond payroll.”
One of the main HR-challenges Frigoglass was facing, was transferring the employees from the previous to their own company and in the meantime building the structure of all the necessary HR-processes. “The biggest challenge was to implement all the processes, to get in contact with insurances, pension, to get the right permissions to work on weekends,…” For Mesa, it was a big learning process. He was very interested in all the programs and systems. Our consultants guided her through the whole process of transferring employees and creating a new operation system.
By avoiding errors and guiding Frigoglass through building an HR-process from scratch, SD Worx contributed in gaining the trust of the Frigoglass employees. “Step by step we see our employees opening up to us. Where they used to be very sceptical and questioning everything we do, they are now even recommending us as an employer to their networks.”
